The great value commuter route from Bingham to Nottingham has proved a real hit with customers since it’s launch last December. Now following customer feedback, premiere localbus are making it even better from 21st April.
Every week the customer numbers increase now word is spreading that the X1 is both fantastic value for money and very reliable. This peak-time service from Whatton and Aslockton, Bingham and Radcliffe Harlequin speeds commuters into Nottingham. The City centre loop means customers can get on and off at Broadmarsh and Victoria Centres and some journeys even extend to the QMC.
We recently asked our customers how we could make the X1 even better and they told us: they loved our great value fares, the city loop was good but they also wanted to get on at Friar Lane, and the afternoon return buses could be better timed.
So we’ve taken action and from Monday 21st April all of those wishes are granted.
Firstly, our great value and very popular ‘10trip’ ticket will be even better value for money, because the price is reduced to just £10, so that’s just £1 per trip!
Then in the afternoon buses now run every 20 minutes and after starting at Victoria Centre will call at Friar Lane (stop F2) on the way to Broadmarsh (Collin Street), the Train Station and then out to Bingham.
And for a little extra comfort, we’ll be using one of Premiere’s luxury coaches on the longer journeys to and from Whatton.
Premiere Travel MD, Stephen Greaves said: “We are thrilled with the instant success of route X1 and proves that is a demand for these extra buses from Bingham to Nottingham. We’ve listened to our current customers and made these changes in the hope of attracting even more new customers to try our service.”

A bus company has extended a popular route into the centre of Nottingham after its customers said they were fed up of having to catch two buses.
Since Premiere Travel took over route 17 last September, customer numbers have grown considerably. But a recent survey found that many customers in the areas the route serves don’t just want to go to Beeston, they want to travel on to Nottingham and the QMC without having to change buses.
So from the 21st April, buses will continue from Stapleford, Toton and Attenborough into the City Centre via Derby Road for the QMC. The new route also incorporates a couple of changes also suggested by customers. In Toton instead of just using the main Stapleford Lane, buses will run via Woodstock Road and Seaburn Road offering those residents a direct service to the City for the first time in many years. Then in Stapleford there is a new loop around Hickings Lane, Ewe Lamb Lane and Nottingham Road giving those areas a direct link to Toton Tesco and Beeston. The extended route from Beeston Bus Station runs via Wollaton Road, Dennis Avenue and Brook Road to Derby Road and the QMC.
In Nottingham buses serve both Victoria and Broadmarsh centres.
The current hourly daytime frequency remains with a new later bus departing from Nottingham at 4.25pm running through to Stapleford. Extra buses also run later into the afternoon on Saturdays too.
The route, now re-branded as ‘your17’ reflects that the service has been designed using suggestions from the customers it serves – making it their very own bus route.
Premiere Travel MD, Stephen Greaves said: “So many of our customers told us that they hated having to change buses in Beeston to get into town or the hospital, so we listened to their wishes. It was always surprising that areas such as New Eaton Road in Stapleford, Toton and Attenborough did not have a direct bus into Nottingham. So now hopefully the people in those areas will use the new ‘your17’ even more often.”
If the extended route proves a success and customer numbers continue to grow, future plans include extra early morning and later afternoon buses, and new low-floor vehicles could also be introduced.
With ‘your17’ joining Premiere’s localbus network, the great value £10-10trip ticket will be available meaning every single trip costs just £1. OAP passes are also valid for free travel after 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays.

A bus company has stepped in to provide more buses for commuters from Bingham.
While the Bingham to Nottingham route already has a regular bus service, many commuters from the Rushcliffe town complain that those buses get extremely full at peak times.
So from 3rd December Localbus, part of Premiere Travel, is launching new peak-time route X1, an additional bus service into Nottingham providing more seats for commuters.
The X1 leaves Bingham at 7.20am, 7.50am and 8.20am and runs direct to Nottingham serving the Train Station, Broadmarsh, Victoria Centre and Parliament Street, some buses even continue to the QMC and University. The service also calls at Radcliffe Harlequin and one bus starts from Whatton and Aslockton at 7.42am.
Buses then return at half-hour intervals from 4.10pm until 5.50pm with the 5.20pm extending back to Whatton.
The day return fare from Bingham to Nottingham is only £3.50 or there is a 10-trip ticket for just £15, making it only £1.50 per trip.
Premiere Travel MD, Steven Greaves said: “We really got fed-up of friends and our staff telling us that the buses from Bingham can get so full they have to stand up – so we looked into what we could do to help. We already have buses in that area on contracts, so instead of running back to Nottingham empty, we can now provide more seats at the busiest times.
“We also wanted to offer something different, so our route runs in a loop around the City Centre and we are offering cheaper fares to tempt more people out of their cars and to give the bus a try”

The routes linking outlying towns such as Bingham, Radcliffe, Keyworth and Clifton to large superstores ASDA and Morrisons in West Bridgford have been running for over two years. A Stepped entrance bus has been used until now as easy access buses have not been available. But with the contract to operate these services under the ‘localbus’ banner passing to Premiere Travel of Nottingham, the company has invested in two state-of-the-art vehicles.
The new buses feature a completely step-free entrance area, meaning customers with shopping trolleys and pushchairs can just wheel them straight on without any lifting. There is also a ramp if needed so wheelchair users can board the bus with ease.
Recently launched routes from Calverton and Southwell to Netherfield Morrisons will also be operated by the new vehicles from the first week of September.
localbus Managing Director Jamie Swift said “We are trilled that after two years of operation we can finally offer our customers the latest generation of low-floor vehicles. As we predominantly operate services to supermarkets with many elderly customers, it will now be so much easier for them to get on and off with trolleys and heavy shopping bags without having steps to worry about.”
Premiere Travel MD Stephen Greaves added “When localbus approached up to operate their routes the timing fitted perfectly with our plans to enter the bus service market. We can now work together using the localbus brand to develop further routes across the East Midlands area.”
New shoppers’ services linking Hucknall and Aspley to Bulwell Morrisons, as well as commuter routes to Nottingham from Bingham and Toton are planned to start in October. For more details contact localbus/Premiere Travel on 0115 985 1111.
A commuter express service from Hucknall Estates to Nottingham, due to be axed in September will now be taken over by another bus company.
The service known as the ‘EX’, currently operated by Notts & Derby buses, runs direct from Beauvale and Ruffs estate in Hucknall direct to Nottingham via the City Hospital. It was due to finish on 31st August but will now be replaced by localbus from 3rd September.
Renamed X3, buses will depart at the same times as now, but the City Centre stops will change. Instead of just serving Victoria Bus Station, the route will continue from Victoria Centre to a new terminus on Upper Parliament Street.
The day return fare will remain at just £3.00 or a new ‘super10’ ten-trip ticket will also be available for only £13.50.
It is hoped with the great value fares and new city centre terminus will encourage more customers to use the service, thus making the route viable to operate and extra journeys could even be added in the future.
Information will be posted a bus stops during the next few weeks or for more details contact Premiere Travel (operator for localbus services) on 0115 985 1111.
